Professor Toribio has extensive experience in the financial sector and will actively participate in the public dissemination of the banking sector’s position on various issues. This collaborative work will commence immediately.
Dr. Juan José Toribio is currently Professor Emeritus of Economics and President of the CIIF (International Center for Financial Research). He also chairs the Academic Commission of the Spanish Institute of Financial Analysts (IEAF) and is a member of the Board of Trustees of the ICO Foundation.
With a PhD in Economics from the University of Chicago and a graduate (International Teachers Program) from Harvard Business School, he served as Director of IESE Business School in Madrid for ten years. He has also held significant positions in both the public and private sectors, including Economist at the Bank of Spain (by competitive examination), Director General of Financial Policy at the Ministry of Economy, and Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund (in Washington D.C.), among others.
Furthermore, he has held management positions in various financial entities and, for several years, participated weekly in the CNN+ program “Economía a Fondo,” analyzing current Spanish and international economic affairs.
