Expertclick reaches its 6th edition with free workshops on the use of the internet and digital tools for seniors. This program, promoted by the Cibervoluntarios Foundation and the Foundation of the Spanish Banking Association (AEB), with the support of the Ministry of Social Rights and 2030 Agenda, seeks to train those over 55 throughout Spain in basic digital skills. These include mobile phone use, communication and leisure applications, digital health, online banking, and e-government.
At least 1,200 seniors will benefit from Expertclick in this edition, especially in rural areas. Since Cibervoluntarios and the AEB joined forces in this program in 2018, more than 6,000 people have been trained in digital skills. In 2023 alone, 1,449 people were trained through 140 workshops in 31 different provinces, 82% of which were in rural areas.
In the free four-hour workshops, students learn to use mobile phones and tablets to browse the internet, make video calls, use leisure applications, shop online, and perform online tasks such as requesting medical appointments or using digital certificates and electronic signatures. They also learn how to manage their banking online simply and securely. Ultimately, the purpose of Expertclick is to ensure that seniors gain autonomy and security on the internet.
In addition, training can be accessed through Expertclick’s video tips, available on the program’s website www.expertclick.org. It is expected that another 40,000 seniors across Spain will benefit through this channel. This program also features a free telephone and online help line with a team of experts who respond to technology-related questions in less than 24 hours.
“The banking sector is committed to providing digital training to everyone so they can benefit from the advantages of technology as a tool to improve their personal well-being,” says Alejandra Kindelán, president of the Spanish Banking Association (AEB) and its Foundation.
In the words of Yolanda Rueda, president of the Cibervoluntarios Foundation, “Thanks to the continuity of this project, we can continue helping seniors make their daily lives easier, gain autonomy, independence, and quality of life, as well as encourage them to participate more actively in society thanks to technology.”
Any person over 55 and entities working with this group—such as senior associations, residences, day centers, senior homes, cultural centers, libraries, or town halls, among others—can request these free workshops at www.expertclick.org or by calling 91 542 29 00.
