In this 2024 edition, she underscored the role of the financial sector in the current context of political renewal, where banking is a key driver of economic growth and social progress. Evidence of this is its contribution to the welfare state, through taxes and lending that help make the dreams of families and businesses a reality.
FELABAN and AEB address the global challenges facing the banking sector in Madrid

Juan Carlos Delrieu (AEB) explains the role of banking in the fight against climate change
“Accessibility and banking are synonymous with economic and social progress.” This is stated by our Director of Sustainability, Juan Carlos Delrieu, in Ethic Magazine, where he addresses the key role of the banking sector in the transition toward a decarbonized economy and in the fight against climate change.

We celebrated the 2nd Banking Games: 450 employees from eleven institutions compete in 7 disciplines
We have celebrated the second edition of our Banking Games! An event that brings together sport and teamwork, promoted by AEB to encourage physical activity and camaraderie. Nearly 450 employees enjoyed a day of healthy competition at the Golf Santander & Sports sports facilities in Boadilla del Monte. Participants were able to strengthen ties with colleagues from their own bank and meet peers from other institutions during a tournament featuring seven disciplines: football, swimming, golf, X-fit, padel, relay race and pétanque. Our President, Alejandra Kindelán, opened the awards ceremony, in which Santander, BBVA and Bankinter took the podium. ONCE and AEB Foundations join forces to improve financial literacy for people with disabilities
The Spanish Banking Association (AEB), the AEB Foundation, and the ONCE Foundation have signed a collaboration agreement to promote initiatives aimed at enhancing the financial education of people with disabilities. The agreement was signed by Alejandra Kindelán, President of AEB and its foundation, and José Luis Martínez Donoso, General Director of the ONCE Foundation. They both underscored the importance of financial services being accessible and understandable for all people with disabilities, and consequently, the need to drive initiatives such as this agreement to make it a reality.
Banking Sector and Public Sector Join Forces to Boost Youth Financial Education
On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the financial education program ‘Tus Finanzas, Tu Futuro’ – from AEB and Junior Achievement Spain – officials from the banking sector, the public sector, and the education sector participated in a session that was closed by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Business, Carlos Cuerpo.
Bank employees have been teaching financial education in schools for 10 years
We would like to thank all the bank employee volunteers for bringing financial education closer to young people. A great team that this year has been joined by senior executives from various institutions to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the financial education programme ‘Your Finances, Your Future’, which we run from the Spanish Banking Association together with the Junior Achievement Spain Foundation. 70,000 young people have benefited from this programme since it was launched in 2014, thanks to the 5,000 banking sector employees who have visited schools across Spain to help them develop healthy financial habits. ‘Your Mobile and You’ launches, a digital training program for the elderly
The Alicia y Guillermo Foundation and the AEB Foundation, of the Spanish Banking Association (AEB), are launching ‘Your Mobile and You’, a free digital training program that will benefit 1,300 people over the age of 60 residing in Madrid in 2024. This program will be held between April and December at entities linked to the Alicia y Guillermo Foundation. Participants will be able to acquire essential skills for using their mobile devices in a free 3-hour training session.

The Spanish Banking Association (AEB), CECA, the National Union of Credit Cooperatives (Unacc), the National Association of Financial Credit Institutions (ASNEF), the National Cybersecurity Institute (Incibe), the Civil Guard, and the National Police have launched a cybersecurity awareness campaign with the aim of strengthening the digital security of all individuals. Protecting against cyberattacks is a shared responsibility between the banking institution and the client.
