AEB Foundation and Somos Digital facilitate the use of digital banking
The president of the Spanish Banking Association and the AEB Foundation, Alejandra Kindelán, and the president of the Somos Digital Association and Director of Telecommunications and Digital Administration of Castilla y León, Antonio Ibáñez, have signed a collaboration agreement to promote the use of secure digital banking. More than 2,000 users will receive training in digital skills through free in-person and online workshops as part of the joint project ‘My Digital Banking: easy and secure’.

Ignasi and Diego represent Spain in the European financial education final EMQ23

For the first time since 2020, students from 28 European countries traveled to Brussels to participate in a highly competitive final that ended with the Greek team being crowned as winners. This event, which brings together students aged 13 to 15 to test their knowledge of financial education and promote healthy financial habits, is an international benchmark in which the winners of the national finals from European countries participate. Ignasi and Diego represented Spain in the EMQ23 competition that took place on May 16.
Me Apptualizo Launches: Digital Training Programme for Over-60s
The EmancipaTIC association and AEB Foundation, part of the Spanish Banking Association (AEB), are launching ‘Me Apptualizo’, a free digital training programme for people over 60 residing in Madrid. More than 1,050 beneficiaries will receive training through free programmes to be delivered between February and May 2023 at Madrid City Council senior centres.
AEB and Junior Achievement Conduct Workshops for Teachers at Bank of Spain Branches
We know that “the relationship with money is part of our daily lives, from a grandparent’s pocket money to knowing how to differentiate between needs and wants.” For this reason, in collaboration with the Junior Achievement Foundation, we organized two workshops at the Bank of Spain’s offices in Valladolid and Badajoz with teachers to share initiatives and practices for conveying the importance of financial education to their students—an initiative we now wish to extend to primary school students. These were two very interesting sessions where we realized the great challenge, but also the great opportunity, involved in educating the youngest children on this subject.
Madrid City Council and AEB join forces to promote cybersecurity and financial education

Madrid City Council and the Spanish Banking Association (AEB) and its Foundation have reached a collaboration agreement to promote financial and digital education for citizens, and encourage training in cybersecurity. The Mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, and the President of AEB and its Foundation, Alejandra Kindelán, signed this agreement yesterday, which includes the transfer of audiovisual content from AEB to the City Council and strengthens collaboration between the parties.
Banking Lab. The impact of interest rate hikes on mortgages
“Dialogue with the Government has led to a mortgage agreement that will help families with liquidity issues while preserving the stability of the mortgage market,” stated our Secretary General, Javier Rodríguez Pellitero, during the latest ‘Banking Lab’ session. The discussion panel included José García Montalvo, Professor of Economics at Pompeu Fabra University; Carlos Pérez Montes, from the Financial Stability Department of the Bank of Spain; and Paloma Arnaiz, Secretary General of AEV. Santiago Carbó, Professor of Economic Analysis at the University of Valencia, moderated the session, which was opened by the Vice President of CEOE, Íñigo Fernández de Mesa.

Education for Safer Finances
On the occasion of World Financial Education Day, we held the conference “Education for Safer Finances,” where various experts discussed current challenges in personal finance management and shared basic cybersecurity tips for operating online. Carles Solé, CISO at Santander; Eduardo Ferrero Recaséns, Partner, Risk Advisory Cyber at Deloitte; and Gustavo Lozano García, CISO at ING Spain & Portugal, explained the importance of being wary of unofficial sources and protecting our data at this event organized by the AEB Foundation and CUNEF.
