José María Roldán (Teruel, 1964) concludes his first year as President of the Spanish Banking Association (AEB). He considers the confrontation between the sector and the Ministry of Economy that led to his appointment a closed chapter (“I do not notice any problem in my institutional relations with any level of government”) and declares himself satisfied to be able to assist the banking sector in the implementation of the Banking Union. However, he points out that “although the environment in which institutions operate has improved and facilitates our work, the scenario remains highly complex.”
