Expertclick, the free training program in new technologies for seniors developed by Fundación Cibervoluntarios and Fundación de la Asociación Española de Banca (AEB), with support from the Ministry of Social Rights and 2030 Agenda, launches its fifth edition with new courses.
Since its launch in 2018, over 4,700 people aged 55 and above from across Spain have received in-person training in digital skills through this program at no cost to beneficiaries. In 2022 alone, 138 workshops were conducted, training 1,363 people from 26 different provinces.
In 2023, at least 1,400 seniors, particularly those residing in rural areas, will learn everything from basic mobile phone use—such as connecting to the internet or making video calls—to digital applications and tools for administrative management, including digital certificates and electronic signatures.
The courses will last 6 hours. Beneficiaries will receive training on scheduling medical appointments online and using useful health, communication, leisure, and online shopping applications, as well as using online banking safely, which will improve their quality of life and autonomy.
Additionally, new, easy-to-understand informational video modules will be created for use in workshops and distributed through digital channels to reach 40,000 seniors with guidance on using ICT.
This program also features a free telephone and online helpline where a team of experts will answer technology-related questions within 24 hours.
For Alejandra Kindelán, President of the Spanish Banking Association (AEB) and its Foundation, “digital empowerment is a very powerful tool that can improve our personal well-being. The banking sector’s commitment to making it accessible to all groups, especially seniors, is firm and reflected in programs like Expertclick.”
In the words of Yolanda Rueda, President of Fundación Cibervoluntarios, “thanks to the continuity of this project, we can continue helping seniors make their daily lives easier, gain autonomy and independence and quality of life, and encourage them to participate more actively in society through technology.”
Anyone over 55 years of age and organizations working with this demographic—such as senior associations, nursing homes, day centers, senior centers, cultural centers, libraries, or municipalities, among others—can request these free workshops at www.expertclick.org or by calling 91 542 29 00.
