Expertclick, the digital school of the Cibervoluntarios Foundation and the Spanish Banking Association (AEB) Foundation, has trained over 3,300 people aged 55 and over residing in rural areas across Spain in the use of technological tools, applications, and services since its launch in 2018.
In 2021, a total of 1,055 seniors attended its workshops in person or connected to online classes from the hundred programs developed in 79 municipalities across 14 autonomous communities, in collaboration with 80 local entities, such as city councils, day centers, senior residences, or retired persons’ associations, among others.
Seniors who have attended these 6-hour workshops learn to use their smartphone or tablet to communicate via video conference, manage their banking, request a medical appointment, shop online, or enjoy their leisure time on the internet.
The objective of this project, with a commitment to continuity, is to contribute to improving the quality of life of seniors and foster their participation in society, especially those residing in rural areas, where 91.5% of the programs were carried out in 2021.
For José María Roldán, President of the AEB and its foundation, “Expertclick is an initiative that is proving useful in reducing the digital divide associated with age and breaking down technological barriers that distance our seniors from the advantages of the digital world, both during the difficult times the pandemic is bringing us and in the normality of daily life.”
“In our firm commitment to bring technology closer to all those living in a situation of digital vulnerability, we will continue to support projects like Expertclick, which help our seniors acquire digital skills to make their daily lives easier, and which also promote their participation in society,” assures Yolanda Rueda, President of the Cibervoluntarios Foundation.
Seniors aged 55 and over living in rural areas who wish to train with Expertclick, and institutions (senior associations, residences, day centers, senior homes, cultural centers, libraries, city councils) that wish to organize a workshop, can request it at www.expertclick.org or by calling 91 542 29 00.
