Expertclick, the free training program in new technologies for seniors, developed by Fundación Cibervoluntarios and the Spanish Banking Association (AEB) Foundation, reaches its fourth edition this year with the support of the Ministry of Social Rights and 2030 Agenda.
At least 1,200 seniors will receive training through mostly in-person workshops on the use of digital tools on mobile devices. The objective is to contribute to improving the quality of life and promoting active aging and social participation for those over 55, especially in rural areas.
In this fourth edition, seniors will learn to use their smartphone or tablet for video calls, banking transactions, booking medical appointments, online shopping, or enjoying their leisure time online. All courses will last 6 hours and will be mostly conducted in person. Workshops are scheduled for the coming weeks in municipalities in Madrid, Barcelona, Cantabria, Badajoz, Zaragoza, Asturias, and Murcia.
In this edition, Expertclick expands its content with video training capsules that will help seniors better understand how these technological tools work and the benefits they can bring to their daily lives. The goal is to reach and raise awareness among over 20,000 people through these videos. A telephone and online helpline is also being launched to resolve their technology-related queries within 24 hours.
Since its inception in 2018, Expertclick has trained over 3,700 seniors in the use of technological tools, applications, and services. Workshops have been held in 269 municipalities across 15 autonomous communities in collaboration with 254 local entities such as city councils, day centers, nursing homes, or retiree associations, among others. More than 80% of the workshops have taken place in rural areas.
For Alejandra Kindelán, president of the AEB and its foundation, “Expertclick is an increasingly necessary program, focused on helping seniors take advantage of the opportunities offered by the internet and new technologies to improve their quality of life. At AEB, we work to ensure that no one is left behind, especially older people living in rural areas who suffer the consequences of depopulation.”
“In our firm commitment to bringing technology closer to all those who experience digital vulnerability, we will continue to support projects like Expertclick, which help our seniors acquire digital skills to make their daily lives easier and also promote their active participation in society,” says Yolanda Rueda, president of Fundación Cibervoluntarios.
Seniors over 55 living in rural areas who wish to receive training with Expertclick and institutions (senior associations, residences, day centers, senior homes, cultural centers, libraries, city councils) that wish to organize a workshop can apply at www.expertclick.org or by calling 91 542 29 00.
