The president of the Spanish Banking Association and the AEB Foundation, Alejandra Kindelán, and the president of the Somos Digital Association, Antonio Ibáñez, participated in the ‘Digital Banking Towards Inclusion’ conference, organized for Financial Education Day; accompanied by the director general of the ‘Fernando de los Ríos’ Consortium, Juan Luis Cruz; the vice president and deputy for Social Innovation and Depopulation of the Provincial Council of Málaga, Antonia Ledesma; and the delegate of the Government of the Junta de Andalucía, Patricia Navarro Pérez.

During the event, aimed at citizens interested in acquiring basic knowledge of digital banking, the project “My Digital Banking: easy and secure” was presented. It will provide training through more than 260 in-person and online activities across Spain. More than 2,000 people are expected to benefit from the workshops, with personalised guidance and at no cost.

Eight Somos Digital Networks across the country have joined the project: Red Conecten (Cabildo of Tenerife), CyL Digital (Regional Government of Castile and León), Telecentros (Burgos Provincial Council), CeMIT (Xunta of Galicia), i-CAST (Principality of Asturias), Aupex (Association of Popular Universities of Extremadura), Fundación Dédalo (Tudela) and Vuela Guadalinfo (Regional Government of Andalusia), which will bring online banking closer to citizens in their areas.

The event included a panel discussion in which experts in finance and cybersecurity addressed how to protect oneself against risks and fraud when using digital banking, the usability of different digital applications, and how to use digital banking services safely while protecting privacy.

Participants in this discussion included Laura Núñez, Professor of Finance at IE University and Director of the Family Savings Observatory; Enrique Rando, Technical Adviser at the Andalusia Digital Agency; and Andrés Román, Head of the Cybercrime Section of the National Police in Málaga. Pilar Clavería, AEB adviser, moderated the event, which was closed by Antonio Ibáñez Pascual, President of Somos Digital.

Through the project website, www.mibancadigital.es, it will be possible to keep up to date with scheduled activities and access the training content, as well as the digital banking and ATM web simulators that will be developed to deliver the training and will allow it to be continued from citizens’ homes.
