We are all familiar with the phrase “may you live in interesting times,” so popular in English that it is also known as the Chinese curse. And also that other saying about how the word crisis in Chinese is written using the characters for problem and opportunity. Both ideas are apocryphal, Western inventions that have nothing to do with China. But se non è vero, è ben trovato: the truth is that living in such interesting times is truly starting to become exhausting. To the terrible consequences of this crisis, which has impacted business profitability as well as its reputation—with the innocent sometimes paying for the guilty—is now added an unfriendly post-crisis environment in at least three areas.
