The International Federation of Finance Museums

February 15, 2021

The mission of the International Federation of Finance Museums (IFFM) is to provide a framework for greater collaboration among museums, facilitating the sharing of exhibitions, the exchange of scholarships and academic resources, and the sharing of information and knowledge about finance.

The International Federation of Finance Museums was created in 2013 by the finance museums of Turin, Italy (Museo del Risparmio); New York (Museum of American Finance); the Finance Museums of China; and through Professor Annamaria Lusardi’s GFLEC center at the George Washington University School of Business in Washington, DC. The Federation now involves more than a dozen finance museums from around the world, including MIDE in Mexico City; Erste Bank’s FLIP Financial Literacy Park in Vienna; the Bank of Canada Museum in Ottawa; the BELvue Museum and Wikifin Lab in Brussels; the Museu do Dinheiro operated by the Central Bank of Portugal; and Citéco, the Cité de l’Économie, the new Bank of France museum that opened in Paris in 2019.

The IFFM also aims to develop and implement innovative ideas and programs to promote financial education worldwide. IFFM members meet annually at an international conference that inspires innovation in the promotion of financial education on a global scale, involving the media, academics, policymakers, and the financial industry.
