The management of ICO loans with State guarantees reflects the successful collaboration between the public and private sectors in Spain, “which has been an example of efficiency throughout Europe, both in terms of the volume of financing granted and the speed of its concession,” said our Public Policy Director, María Abascal, today.
During her speech at the panel discussion on ‘Macroprudential policy in Spain, institutions and instruments’ for the Revista de Economía de Información Comercial en España (ICE), Abascal maintained that “the flow of financing to the economy has been maintained during the pandemic. Spanish companies have had access to the financial resources they needed in time” to continue their operations.
In this regard, the AEB Public Policy Director highlighted the rapid reaction of the authorities to the health crisis caused by the coronavirus, as well as the depth of the measures adopted with the aim of ensuring the maintenance of financing for the productive sector during the most difficult moments of the health crisis.
“The regulatory and supervisory response to the Covid crisis has been very successful, both in its content and in the timing of the decisions made. And the coordination between authorities has been exemplary,” Abascal emphasized.
