The Spanish Banking Association (AEB) has signed an agreement with the State Public Employment Service (SEPE), which banks may join, to advance the payment of unemployment benefits to those affected by the DANA.
Institutions that join this cooperation agreement will advance all or part of the unemployment benefit funds in accordance with Royal Decree-Law 7/2024, before receiving the funds from SEPE.
People whose unemployment benefits are recognised between 28 October and the end date of the agreement may receive these advances, provided that SEPE administers the benefit.
This cooperation facilitates advances in accordance with the criteria set out in the agreement, which is in force until 31 December 2025. SEPE will pay the participating institutions through the financial channel of the General Treasury of the Social Security.
