Since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, the Spanish banking sector has been adopting a wide range of measures to alleviate the painful humanitarian crisis caused by Russia’s invasion, which has forced millions of citizens to flee and leave their homes.
In view of this tragic situation, Spanish institutions have put in place initiatives of various kinds to help the Ukrainian population, ranging from donations to fundraising campaigns, as well as collaborations with NGOs to host refugees, among many others.
In addition to this support, institutions are taking measures to ensure the swift financial inclusion of displaced persons, while, in full coordination with national and EU authorities, they are implementing the sanctions regime measures provided for by the European Union.
The war in Ukraine is having an economic cost that we are already suffering and whose final magnitude is difficult to estimate, but the humanitarian crisis is particularly dramatic; therefore, the Spanish banking sector expresses its solidarity and contributes to the well-being and security of Ukrainian citizens.
