Banking and the reconstruction of the economy. Banking Lab

January 21, 2021

On February 4, a new session of the “Banking Lab” will be held, focusing on the role of banking in rebuilding the economy after the pandemic, with contributions from leading professionals in the banking sector from both the public and private spheres.

The Director General for Economics and Statistics at the Bank of Spain, Óscar Arce; the Director of the Research Department, Public Policy and Institutional Relations at Banco Santander, Alejandra Kindelán; the Chief Economist and Deputy General Manager at Banco Sabadell, Sofía Rodríguez; and the Chief Economist of the BBVA Group and Director of BBVA Research, Jorge Sicilia, will share their views on the role of the banking sector in the challenge of driving the recovery. The debate will be moderated by David Martín, Partner at Monitor Deloitte and Head of Regulatory Strategy.

Since the start of the health crisis, banks have played a key role in mitigating its impact on society and ensuring the economy continues to function, and in this session we want to discuss what role the sector could play in this new phase of boosting economic activity.
