More than 7,000 students from approximately one hundred schools will participate.

The winners will advance to the final of the European competition in Brussels.

The Spanish Banking Association has organized a competition to test the financial knowledge of more than 7,000 students aged between 13 and 15, from approximately one hundred schools across Spain.

What is the principal of a loan? What are the terms? If you diversify your investment, what happens to the risk? These are the types of questions that all participants in the competition will have to answer simultaneously. The competition will be held on April 10 and 11 and will be organized through an online platform.

The class that achieves the highest number of correct answers in the shortest possible time will be the winner and will travel to Brussels to represent Spain in the final of the European competition, which will pit students from 30 countries against each other on May 8. This competition is part of European Money Week, organized annually by the European Banking Federation.

“Playing is the best way for our brain to learn. If you add the ingredient of competition, you have a wonderful tool to engage young people in something crucial for their future,” says Beatriz Morilla, head of financial education at the AEB. “Many young people are not prepared to manage their money; financial education must be promoted,” she adds.

The 3rd and 4th year ESO secondary schools competing in the contest are participating in the fourth edition of the “Your Finances, Your Future” program, a financial education initiative that the Spanish Banking Association organizes, with the collaboration of the AEB Foundation and the advice of the Junior Achievement Foundation, to bring financial reality closer to society and promote the development of healthy financial habits.

All those who wish to practice for the national competition, improve their financial literacy, or teach it in class, can do so on the AEB website, where ten different “Kahoot!” games are featured.
