The EmancipaTIC association and the AEB Foundation, part of the Spanish Banking Association (AEB), are launching ‘Me Apptualizo’, a free digital training program for people over 60 residing in Madrid.
More than 1,050 beneficiaries will receive training through programs provided at no cost to them, which will be held between February and May 2023 in senior centers run by the Madrid City Council.
The objective of these sessions is to help improve the quality of life and social inclusion of the elderly through the use of digital tools on mobile devices.
It is important to increase the beneficiaries’ confidence in using their mobile devices, achieving the necessary autonomy to make online purchases securely and use online banking applications.
Specialized teachers will lead these workshops with the support of student volunteers from CUNEF University. This intergenerational encounter is one of the pillars of the project.
“The banking sector is committed to providing digital training to all groups, but especially to the elderly, so they can benefit from this powerful tool to improve their personal well-being,” says Alejandra Kindelán, president of the AEB and its foundation.
“To the goal of improving the digital skills of the elderly, young volunteers have joined the project, thus integrating groups from different generations sharing skills and knowledge in an experience as important and essential as being Digital Volunteers,” comments the president of Emancipatic, Jose Manuel Azorin.
