The second phase of the training program on the use of new technologies for people over 55 in rural areas begins

The free workshops will be held in towns with low population density across eight autonomous communities

The Cibervoluntarios Foundation and the AEB Foundation, of the Spanish Banking Association (AEB), are launching the second phase of Expertclick, their training program on the use of new technologies aimed at people over 55 residing in rural areas throughout Spain.

This new edition aims to train nearly 1,000 residents in digital skills in towns particularly affected by depopulation in the autonomous communities of Aragon, Asturias, Andalusia, Castile and León, Extremadura, Galicia, Valencia, and Madrid.

Through the 200 free workshops to be held throughout 2019, seniors will be helped to navigate the internet safely and confidently, as well as to carry out everyday online operations, especially procedures related to healthcare, public administration, and personal finance.

“Following the success of the pilot program, with which we set out to help 200 people better manage new technologies, we wanted to extend these workshops to other regions of the so-called ‘depopulated Spain’ and thus meet the growing interest of seniors in taking advantage of all the opportunities the internet offers,” emphasized AEB President José María Roldán.

For Yolanda Rueda, President of the Cibervoluntarios Foundation, “seniors do not want to be left behind and are willing to learn everything that technology can help them with to make their lives easier. With this training, we contribute to the development of social welfare for this group in the most depopulated rural areas of our country.”

Individuals and institutions interested in these four-hour workshops can request training at www.expertclick.org. Each class, focused on the use of mobile phones and tablets, will consist of a theoretical part and a series of practical cases.
