1.- The chairmen of the banks that make up the AEB First Group agreed last November 23 to propose to the next General Assembly, convened for March 25, 2010, the re-election of Mr. Miguel Martín as President of the Association for a new four-year term.

2.- Mr. Miguel Martín has communicated the aforementioned agreement to the remaining AEB Groups and has expressed to all his deep gratitude and willingness to serve.

The AEB bylaws state in Article 20.3 that the Association’s president shall be “presented by the banks comprising Group One” and that “their appointment shall correspond to the General Assembly.” Likewise, the bylaws stipulate that the term of office will last four years and will take place “without prejudice to possible re-election”.

AEB’s Group One consists of Banco Santander, Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria, Banco Español de Crédito, and Banco Popular.

Mr. Miguel Martín was elected President of the AEB by the General Assembly of March 30, 2006, for a four-year term, which will expire on the same day the ordinary General Assembly for 2010 is held.
