Albania: Livelihood Education

March 1, 2021

In Albania, financial education is referred to as “livelihood education,” a subject integrated into the national curriculum for both primary and secondary education, and is a compulsory subject in high school (ages 16-18). The Ministry of Education has included the teaching of personal finance in civics classes.

Since June 2019, eight non-profit organizations and the National Youth Service created the Albanian Financial Education Network (ANFE). This cooperation provides an opportunity for successful collaboration and better leveraging of synergies, serving as a platform to work with the public sector to ensure financial education is well-received by schools, and especially by teachers in their classrooms.
