The current macroeconomic environment is weighed down by significant uncertainty stemming from various factors: the transition out of the acute phase of the pandemic, supply chain tensions, and rising inflation. Furthermore, the war in Ukraine has had a notable impact on the global economy, as well as on the European and Spanish economies.
Against this backdrop, an in-person session of the ‘Banking Lab’ will be held next Tuesday, June 7. You can view the program here.
This session will analyze macroeconomic forecasts—growth, inflation, and employment—and the economic policy actions required to reduce inflation. Key among these measures are interest rate hikes by central banks, with potential consequences for the economy and the financial sector. The challenges arising from this complex situation for the Spanish economy and financial institutions will also be examined.
Participating in the round table will be Alicia Garcia Herrero, Chief Economist for Asia Pacific at Natixis; Rafael Doménech, Head of Economic Analysis at BBVA Research and Professor of Economic Analysis Foundations at the University of Valencia; and Raymond Torres, Director of Economic Outlook at Funcas. Juan Carlos Delrieu, Director of Strategy and Sustainability at the Spanish Banking Association, will moderate the event.
Promoted by the AEB Foundation through CUNEF, the ‘Banking Lab’ has become, since its creation in 2018, a forum for reflection on various topics relevant to the banking sector.
