The Spanish banking sector has launched a new website that compiles all the initiatives developed by the sector in the fight against the coronavirus. It provides a public service of value to families, self-employed workers, and businesses, as well as to employees of financial institutions.
This initiative, jointly promoted by the sector associations—the Spanish Banking Association (AEB) and CECA—is available at www.labancafrentealcoronavirus.es, which integrates all the information provided not only to clients of financial institutions, but to all citizens and business owners interested in learning about the banking sector’s involvement in addressing this crisis.
This portal provides information on the measures that banks are adopting in support of citizens and the Spanish productive sector, both sector-specific measures and those agreed upon in close collaboration with the Government and regulators. Additionally, it aims to answer in a clear manner the questions that may arise for self-employed workers or SMEs when carrying out procedures with their institutions, for example, applying for a loan guaranteed by ICO. It also compiles all joint statements issued by AEB and CECA.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, banks have carried out intensive work for the benefit of society as a whole, maintaining their physical presence throughout the country and strengthening their connection with clients through digital channels.
This website, which will continue to grow as new actions by banks in the fight against COVID-19 are incorporated, is one more act of solidarity by the sector to ensure that the crisis has the least possible impact on the country’s productive activity and on people’s lives.
