Over 4,900 students aged 13 to 15 from a hundred schools across Spain have received online financial education during the 2020-2021 academic year, thanks to banking employee volunteers who participated in the sixth edition of the ‘Your Finances, Your Future’ program.
As a precautionary measure in response to the health crisis, the Spanish Banking Association Foundation and the Junior Achievement Foundation adapted this program to be carried out exclusively online and ensure the continuity of their educational work in schools with all necessary guarantees.
The 426 banking volunteers who have delivered these virtual workshops for adolescents from 122 schools in 33 provinces have reaffirmed, once again, their commitment to promoting the development of healthy financial habits among young people for making everyday decisions in the future.
To introduce students to economic and financial knowledge, the 242 programs have addressed, among other topics, how to create a family budget, how to avoid online scams, how to shop responsibly, and why it is necessary to save to better face unexpected events and achieve financial independence.
Since its launch in 2014, over 40,700 students have benefited from the ‘Your Finances, Your Future’ initiative through 1,690 programs, the result of the long-term commitment of the AEB and its member banks to enhance citizens’ understanding of financial products and services.
The seventh edition of ‘Your Finances, Your Future,’ which begins this March, will also be exclusively online, thanks to the dedication of banking employees who have already expressed their willingness to repeat the experience, and due to the satisfaction of the educational institutions where it is delivered.
Junior Achievement Foundation, a global leader in financial education with over a hundred years of experience, has been responsible for adapting the program content to the online format, which it has been delivering together with the AEB Foundation since its inception, due to the need to suspend in-person sessions because of the COVID pandemic.
