The Spanish Banking Association (AEB), CECA and the National Union of Credit Cooperatives (UNACC) have today signed with the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) the addenda to the agreements entered into in 2020 in order to extend the commitment to collaboration with the inclusion of the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the European Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The aforementioned agreements enable judicial bodies, and from now on also the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, to systematize the processing of requests for banking information on natural and legal persons held by financial institutions that have adhered to the agreements in force between the CGPJ and the aforementioned associations, or that adhere in the future, using the services of the Judicial Neutral Point. This also improves case processing times and operational security.
The Judicial Neutral Point, launched by the CGPJ in 2002, is a communications network through which judges and magistrates can conduct queries in databases and be connected with third-party entities, whether public administrations, professional associations, financial institutions or registries.
With this new step, the financial sector continues to lead in telematic services provided to collaborate in improving the efficiency of the administration of justice also at European level.
