For the third consecutive year, the Spanish Banking Association (AEB) is launching its financial education program Your Finances, Your Future<\/strong>, with the aim of introducing economic and financial knowledge to some 8,000 secondary school students in more than 120 centers throughout Spain. In total, the AEB expects to have reached more than 20,000 young people with the three editions of this program, which has a clear long-term commitment. <\/p>\n

This third edition of Your Finances, Your Future<\/strong> was inaugurated today by the president of the AEB, Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Rold\u00e1n, with a teaching session at the IES Conde de Orgaz in Madrid aimed at 3rd-year ESO students. At the end of the session, Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Rold\u00e1n said that the Association and the participating banks are very satisfied with the program’s results. “This is the third year that we have reached out to students and teachers to introduce some knowledge with which we hope to spark their curiosity and interest in a field, such as personal finance management, which already affects their lives but will undoubtedly do so much more in the future.” <\/p>\n

This session will be followed by more than 850 classes to be held throughout the month of March by nearly 570 volunteers from 22 banks, all of them members of the AEB. This year, the program has incorporated two new entities and once again has the sponsorship of the AEB Foundation and the pedagogical assistance of the Junior Achievement Spain Foundation, which has been linked to this project since its inception as the party responsible for academic content. <\/p>\n

The General Director of this foundation, Blanca Narv\u00e1ez, considers that “the work carried out over these two years shows our common commitment to financial education. We live in a time when training in this subject is essential. The current context requires responsible citizens with a critical sense, who are both trained and informed. People capable of successfully facing the financial challenges they will encounter throughout their lives.”<\/p>\n

As a new feature, an “Innovation Camp” has been organized this year within the framework of Your Finances, Your Future<\/strong>, in which a hundred students will design an application aimed at improving and facilitating personal finance management for young people their age. With this project, the aim is for students who have participated in any edition of the program to be able to put into practice the knowledge developed during it. <\/p>\n

The best idea developed as an app will be eligible for an award, which will be presented during the closing ceremony of this edition of Your Finances, Your Future<\/strong>. “We try to take new steps and do it better every year,” said the president of the AEB. “It is a way of showing our gratitude for the excellent reception we have received from the schools included in the program and also of reaffirming our conviction that financial education helps consumers make well-informed and responsible decisions. And that is useful for everyone.” <\/p>\n

The Your Finances, Your Future<\/strong> program is part of European Money Week, an initiative of the European Banking Federation (EBF) in the field of financial education that, for the third year, will take place simultaneously in more than 30 European countries. In the field of financial education, the AEB carries out other projects aimed at entrepreneurs and the general public. It also collaborates as a member entity with the Financial Education Plan (PEF), promoted by the Bank of Spain and the National Securities Market Commission. <\/p>\n

For their part, the member banks of the AEB have deployed more than fifty initiatives in recent years through 6,000 volunteers, benefiting nearly four million citizens.
