The AEB General Assembly has today re-elected Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Rold\u00e1n Alegre as president of the Spanish Banking Association for a new four-year term. Rold\u00e1n was first elected president of the AEB in April 2014. <\/p>\n
Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Rold\u00e1n’s candidacy for a second term was agreed upon by the AEB General Council on March 12, at the proposal of the presidents of the five banks with the largest asset volume. These banks are Santander, BBVA, Banco Sabadell, Bankinter, and Deutsche Bank. <\/p>\n
The AEB statutes stipulate in Article 16, paragraph 3, that the president of the Association shall be “presented by consensus by the five banks with the largest asset volume that have appointed members to the Council,” and that “their designation shall correspond to the General Assembly.”<\/p>\n
After the vote, Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Rold\u00e1n expressed his gratitude to the AEB Assembly for the trust he had once again received, as well as his satisfaction at being able to represent the sector for the next four years.<\/p>\n
Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Rold\u00e1n has been president of the Spanish Banking Association since April 2014, having previously served as Director General of Regulation and Financial Stability at the Bank of Spain and a member of its Executive Board for 13 years. He is currently also vice-president of the European Banking Federation (EBF). <\/p>\n
