The Spanish Banking Association and its Foundation are launching today the fifth edition of their financial education programme, “Your Finances, Your Future”, thanks to employees from 18 banks who volunteer at schools across Spain to help students aged 13 to 15 develop healthy financial habits.<\/p>\n
“Knowing how to manage your money helps you make very important decisions about your future in a well-informed and responsible way, which means more freedom and peace of mind,” recommended the AEB President, Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Rold\u00e1n, to 9th-grade students at Simancas Secondary School.<\/p>\n
With this and other advice, Rold\u00e1n took part in the first of the 850 classes that 550 volunteers will deliver to around 7,000 students at a hundred educational centres. By the end of this edition, more than 2,600 bank employees will have instilled financial education knowledge in 35,700 students across the country. <\/p>\n
How to create a family budget, how to shop responsibly, or why saving is necessary are some of the topics that will be covered in these classes. Students will also be able to test their financial knowledge through the online platform Kahoot and prepare for the national competition to be held on April 9. The winners will travel to Brussels to take part in the European final on May 6 and 7. <\/p>\n
This AEB initiative, supported by the AEB Foundation and with guidance from the Junior Achievement Foundation as the programme\u2019s academic content lead, was launched in 2015 with a view to remaining in place and continuing over time.<\/p>\n
According to the latest evaluation survey conducted by Junior Achievement, 95% of students and 99% of volunteers from the financial institutions that have taken part in the “Your Finances, Your Future” programme want to repeat the experience.<\/p>\n
