Banking entities are the best-prepared institution and generate the most trust among Spaniards of all ages to protect their personal data, with a score of 7.1 out of 10, ahead of the State Security Forces and Bodies, technology companies, or Public Administrations. <\/p>\n\n<p>This assessment reflects the commitment that citizens attribute to banks regarding the protection of their personal and financial data, and the high security of digital banking, according to the \u201cCybersecurity Opinion Study,\u201d prepared by Sigma Dos and presented this morning at the \u2018Cybersecurity, a shared challenge\u2019 event, organized by the Spanish Banking Association (AEB) and CECA.<\/p>\n\n<p>Thus, the vast majority of citizens believe that their bank cares about the security of their personal and financial data, and they feel safe using digital banking. Furthermore, they favorably value the cybersecurity measures applied by their entity to protect their confidential data. <\/p>\n\n<p>Spaniards highly value the protection of personal data offered by banks, with a score of 7.3, and there is an increase of nearly five percentage points compared to 2023 in the number of Spaniards who feel secure (very or quite) when operating with digital banking. Bizum has become the digital operation with which Spaniards feel most secure. <\/p>\n\n<p>Digital fraud does not originate within the reinforced security perimeter of digital banking, which is clearly perceived by users, but through other more vulnerable digital channels: 65% of Spaniards admit to having received fraudulent emails or SMS, 50% misleading calls, and 25% contacts via social networks. Those over 65 are the age group with the lowest incidence of cyber scams. <\/p>\n\n<p>Furthermore, the study reveals that digital banking is internalized as an everyday service in Spanish society, as 83.5% of the population uses it. In fact, as explained by the General Director of Sigma Dos, Rosa D\u00edaz, \u201cits use is higher than other digital procedures such as transactions with Public Administrations or access to free content.\u201d <\/p>\n\n<p>Six out of ten Spaniards admit that they do not have sufficient knowledge regarding cybersecurity, although a very similar percentage believes they adopt adequate protection measures. This means that many citizens believe they are protected when, in practice, this is not always the case: more than a quarter do not adopt sufficient measures to protect their security, and more than a third of young people between 18 and 29 mistakenly think that the bank can request codes or passwords via SMS, email, or WhatsApp. <\/p>\n\n<p>These data highlight the importance of continuing to promote initiatives such as those developed by the banking sector in terms of digital skills and financial education: platforms such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aulafinancieraydigital.es\/\">Aula Financiera y Digital<\/a>, which features an <em>ad hoc<\/em> cybersecurity space with immediate access tips and initiatives, or awareness campaigns like \u2018In the digital world, care just as much,\u2019 deployed on social networks and in the media.<\/p>\n\n<p>The president of the Spanish Banking Association (AEB), Alejandra Kindel\u00e1n, highlighted that \u201c<em>cooperation between authorities, companies, and institutions is essential. No one can face this challenge alone<\/em>.\u201d For his part, the General Director of CECA, Antonio Romero, explained that \u201c<em>digitalization is a beneficial transformation for the economy, but it entails a series of challenges. Cybersecurity is crucial for financial stability.
