The Spanish Banking Association has appointed Mar\u00eda Abascal as the new Public Policy Director, a division that encompasses all activities related to Banking, Regulation, Operations, Payment Systems, and Digitalization. She will also be a member of the Executive Committee of the European Banking Federation (EBF). <\/p>\n
With extensive experience in regulation and public policy, Mar\u00eda Abascal is a State Economist and Trade Specialist and has over fifteen years of experience in the financial sector, in both the public and private spheres, having spent much of her professional career at BBVA.<\/p>\n
From 2018 until now, Mar\u00eda Abascal was the Global Director of Institutional Relations at BBVA, where she also held the position of Chief Economist for Regulation and Public Policy at BBVA Research, responsible for analyzing and defining positions on financial regulation.<\/p>\n
With a degree in Economics from the Complutense University of Madrid, the new director joined the AEB on January 4, replacing Roc\u00edo S\u00e1nchez Barrios, who took on new responsibilities at the European Investment Bank (EIB) last September.<\/p>\n
