{"id":37565,"date":"2016-06-22T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-06-21T22:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aebanca.es\/actualidad\/te-interesa\/aeb-informa\/the-best-decision\/"},"modified":"2026-04-09T09:53:48","modified_gmt":"2026-04-09T07:53:48","slug":"the-best-decision","status":"publish","type":"blog-aeb","link":"https:\/\/aebanca.es\/en\/actualidad\/te-interesa\/aeb-informa\/the-best-decision\/","title":{"rendered":"The best decision"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I acknowledge that there were three possible outcomes for the German Federal Constitutional Court\u2019s decision on the OMT programme:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To reject it as unconstitutional, which would have been a severe blow to the German authorities.<\/li>\n<li>To accept it with serious limitations, which would have reduced its room for manoeuvre in the future.<\/li>\n<li>To accept it without further conditions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As you know, the third option was ultimately chosen. Restrictions have indeed been imposed (manageable and expected), without this posing the slightest problem for either the ECB or the German authorities.
