Mistrust, nothing but mistrust. The evolution of events following the British referendum result has been as expected: confusion. Political confusion within the United Kingdom and contradictory, confusing, and ambiguous messages from the rest of the European authorities. It was expected, though no less unsettling. The President of the Eurogroup reiterated this Monday that we will only truly know the negative impact of Brexit in the medium and long term. Naturally, although we are all living in the moment. And it is a politically complex moment. For example, the demands in some cases to penalize the United Kingdom for leaving the European project. Will it become a prison? I admit that the mere question is distasteful to me. I also observe with some incredulity the interest in benefiting from the potential financial relocation from London. What was that saying about the bear’s skin? I still believe it will take time to have clear ideas about the consequences of Brexit. But for the moment, our challenge must be to try to overcome the current confusion. <\/p>\n
