Reactivation of the sectoral agreement on the deferral of financing operations

On December 2, the EBA published new guidelines (EBA/GL/2020/15) that amend and reactivate the previous guidelines on legislative and non-legislative moratoria (EBA/GL/2020/02), which provide for the possibility of requesting new moratoria until no later than March 31, 2021, and for a period not exceeding 9 months.

In accordance with the above, the General Council of the AEB, at its meeting on 2020-12-14, also agreed to reactivate the sectoral agreement on the deferral of financing operations for clients affected by the coronavirus crisis until March 30, 2021, with the modifications included in the attached Addendum.

Extension of the term of the sectoral agreement on the deferral of financing operations

On June 17, 2020, the European Banking Authority (EBA) agreed to extend, until September 30, 2020, the deadline for the application of the Guidelines on legislative and non-legislative loan repayment moratoria applied in light of the COVID-19 crisis (https://eba.europa.eu/eba-extends-deadline-application-its-guidelines-payment-moratoria-30-september).

Following the extension agreed by the EBA, as referred to in the preceding paragraph, AEB proceeds to communicate, in accordance with the provisions of the second paragraph of Stipulation Five of the Sectoral Agreement, the extension of the term of the Sectoral Agreement until September 29, 2020.
